Johnny Depp's City of Lies pulled from cinemas weeks before release
JOHNNY Depp’s latest big screen thriller “City of Lies” was pulled from cinemas weeks before its scheduled release.
American distributor Global Road Entertainment cancelled the release of the film, formerly titled “Labryinth”, directed by Brad Furman, the film follows LAPD detective Russell Poole [Depp] who is investigating the murder of Notorious B.I.G, also known as Biggie Smalls, in 1997, a year after the murder of his former friend-turned-rival and fellow rapper Tupac Shakur.
It’s the latest setback for Depp, 55, who is being sued by a location manager who claims Depp assaulted him on the set of “City of Lies”, and has had legal disputes with his former managers and bodyguards.
Last year, it emerged Depp was in dire financial straits and his shocking spending habits were laid bare as he entered into a legal war with his former business managers.
