Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, a resolution transferring ownership of Al Emarat Al Youm and Emirates Business 24/7 newspapers, as well as Masar Printing & Publishing Company and Noor Dubai Radio & TV, from the Arab Media Group (AMG) to Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI).
Under the resolution, the transfer includes all assets, properties, rights, liabilities and commitments.
According to the resolution's second article, all staff of the newspapers, Masar and Noor shall be transferred from the AMG to DMI.
The resolution comes within Dubai Government's initiatives to achieve media excellence for the emirate both regionally and internationally through provision of top quality media services to its Arabic and non-Arabic speaking clients that would encourage creativity and motivate key talents.
The step enables DMI to become one of the largest media organisationsin in the region, in terms of subsidiaries and varied specialisations. In addition to the four new organisations, DMI groups Al Bayan newspaper, Dubai TV, Sama Dubai TV Channel, the English language Dubai One TV Channel, Dubai Sports Channel and Dubai Racing Channel.
Sheikh Mohammed also issued directives to the managements and staff members of transferred entities to work toward smooth implementation of the resolution. He also urged them to double their efforts to contribute in maintaining Dubai's image.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Shaikh, the Media Escort of Sheikh Mohammed & DMI Managing Director, described the resolution as a "major leap for the DMI." He pledged best quality media services by the DMI "that would meet expectations of its clients inside and outside the UAE."
